It's rare we get a chance to head back to our hometown in New England. On our Oct
2017 trip we had the added surprise of visiting the first nano-brewery to open in
Hamden, Connecticut. When we are in the Hamden, New Haven area we are excited
about having Pepe's Pizza, Libby cannolis, Ashley's icecream, eggplant parm and
Foxon Park white birch beer soda.
Now we can also be excited about visiting No
Worries Brewing Company, our hometown brewery. Located on State St. just north
of the DMV, they have been brewing at that location for 2 years, since 2015. We
were just a week shy of their 2 year anniversary. In true nano style we were
offered a tour of the brew house without even asking. They have a 15 barrel steam
heated system. We definitely think small is good. We bumped into a couple
interesting folks and had conversations suited for the back porch. The overhead
door was open letting in the crisp fall air and we could watch the train pass by
across the street. They are along the Quinnipiac River and plan to open a rooftop
seating area which will offer a clear view of the river. Inside was small, with a
dart board, corn hole, bar, a few tables and a couple murals underway.
We are BIG FANS of the small brewery operations. We get a chance to see the craft
up close and meet the makers. What more could you want? Oh the beer. Ice cold, 6
fresh beers on tap. They have: Hakuna Matata, a twisted apple wood and cherry
blond ale, Boned, 6.9& ABV IPA, Say It Loud, American brown ale, What's Goin On,
Session IPA, and Waves Not Worries, a fruity summer ale. All good, all tasty and
served by the hands that made it. Pull off I-91 at the Willow St Exit, head a few
miles up State St and this is a place where you will feel welcomed. Open Wednesday
through Sunday.
