Lake Worth Florida has heir first brewery, Mathews Brewing Company. Opening night
was packed and the house was rocking. Dave Mathews, no relation to the singer, has
been a homebrewer for 20 years. His engineering company has been very scuccessful
and now he's fulfilled his dream of opening his own brewery. He sunk $2million
into Mathew's and it shows. He spent his money pretty wisely and now has a nicely
renovated building on South H street that is likely to revitalize the block. He
has off street parking and an outdoor patio area big enough to park a food truck
in. He told us he wants to keep it local, supporting local musicians and run a
family friendly place with great beer. The outdoor stage was rocking with the band
New Planets. Their play list rocked the yard and their mashup of Queen and White
Stripes was incredible. The patio had picnic tables, art, and stage. The place is
very dog friendly too.
We're always impressed when a brewery can open with a full range of offerings
ranging from: IPA, Cream, Belgian Wit, Stout, Brown, and Session. Dave told us the
pilot system would get a constant workout and they would be changing up the list
often. They have 10 1,600gallon fermenters and they'll be getting a workout. We
sampled everything across the board. Lake Worth has long needed a brewery and the
wait has paid off.
