Just of I-95 in Port Saint Lucie, Florida is Hop
Life Brewing Company, a great little nano brewery that's been operating since
2012. We took a drive to go visit Hop Life and we were rewarded with some great
beer. We ran into members from the Treasure Coast BrewMasters homebrew club
based out of Martin County, who were holding a happy our gathering at Hop Life. We
missed the tour but we arrived in time to speak with a few of the members. We felt
welcomed and after just a few minutes we were discussing attending their next
gathering of homebrewers. Hop Life was a perfect place to hold such a gathering.
The decor is light industrial with reclaimed wood covered walls, neatly decorated
tables and 15 house craft brews on tap. Add that up - it took 4 flights to sample
them all. They were all tasty but we especially enjoyed Nut House Coffee
Porter(5.5% ABV) and the Tangerine Shandy(5.2% ABV). There was something for every
taste. We sampled Dynamite Point Golden Ale, Fire Hog Red Ale, Night Train
Chocolate Stout, Twin Buoys Blonde, Jack Frost Winter Lager, Mother Pucker
Pineapple Mango Gose, Naranja Witt, Calypso Bay Double IPA and Big House IPA. The
Nut House Coffee Porter looked great, smelled great and tasted oh so good with no
bitter aftertaste.
Hop Life first opened in 2011 as an apparel company which raised the funds to help
open the brewery in 2012. Jim Kelly and Robert Tearle put together a brewery that
reflects their talent, dedication, teamwork and passion. From firehouse to
brewhouse. They now command a 2,000sqft 15 barrel brewhouse. The two come from
firehouse careers and are former business owners. Their business knowledge and
dedication to helping the community comes through loud and clear from the moment
you walk in the door. Stop in and enjoy a beer or two or 15. They have food truck
and music events - sound the alarm, ring the bell, get out of the house and douse
those flames with some good craft beer at Hop Life.
