The Beer Collective, New Haven, CT

2017-10-04

We arrived in Connecticut for a weekend and our first stop was The Beer Collective in New Haven. It's tucked right behind City Hall. It was the perfect place to sample the local craft brews before heading off to explore the breweries. They had 16 offerings on tap, 11 in bottles and 21 in cans. They offer local CT craft brew from: New England Brewing Co, Counterweight Brewing Co, Fox Farm Brewery. We had a glass of Counterweight Headway IPA and a bottle from Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. Unfortunately, we only had time for one pour. We had a list of beer and food stops to make and we only had a short while to make them all. Our server had some good advice on the local brew scene and was happy to engage us despite our small tab. The Collective is a nice spot. It had enough seating for the daytime crowd, just off the New Haven Green and Yale campus. They fill growlers, have a delicious menu and on a crisp fall day the patio would be very inviting to spend some time. When we go into a new location we are excited to visit where the craft brew is made but we also like to support the prime spots where they promote local breweries and serve the local craft beer on tap. Get hours in the parking meter and make plans to stop at the Beer Collective when you arrive in New Haven, CT.
