Colorado has an amazing beer community. The state has the highest number of breweries per capita (per person) and you'll find 72 breweries in Denver. Lawmakers have been way ahead of the rest of the country allowing for the first breweries to open after the repeal of prohibition in 1933. Restaurant Breweries are one of the many craft beer businesses you'll find all around Colorado. We were getting hungry so we decided to pay a visit to Southern Sun Brewing. As we walked to our table we passed the brew house proudly displayed behind a glass wall. They had a collection of classic copper and modern stainless brew tanks paying respect to tradition and hinting their link to the renewed nationwide craze for craft beer. We sat in a booth by the window, ordered up some tasty BBQ and sipped on some ice cold craft brew while we nibbled an appetizer or two. Ahh, just what we needed.
Some interesting facts about Colorado: CO is home to the Great American Beer Fest (GABF). Each year the GABF takes the world record for being the location having the most number of beers on tap, presidential candidate, Gov. John Hickenlooper was co- founder of the first brewpub opened back in 1988, Wynkoop Brewing Company, every day more beer is brewed in Denver than anywhere else in the USA, Coors is one of the first breweries opened in the USA back in 1873.
